Precision Electrical Contacts Company is an environmentally conscious company. Retiping and rebuilding electrical contacts is not only economically sound...it is an environmentally sound idea as well.
The copper in the base plates and the silver in the tips are finite resources. Precision thoroughly cleans and re-uses the copper base plates whenever possible. We then send the burned silver off for re-refining.
Proceeds from this are reinvested in new contact material. This results in savings to our customers, to us...and the environment!
A Retip Tip...
...Some electricians like to remove the "silver" tip/cap from used electrical contacts. They then toss the base plates. Bad move.
In most instances the base plates are actually worth more than the "silver" tips/caps!
Why..?
In nearly all instances the copper base plates are extruded!
The extrusion process is the major cost factor in the manufacture of a new set of electrical contacts. Keep the silver if you wish, but please...save those base plates for retipping!
You'll be doing yourself, your bottom line, your customer, and the environment a favor.
